Suggestions that the Diocesan quota, which amounts to £86 (about £4,000 today) and which was the assessment made some years ago based on the ability of the parish to pay that amount, should be reduced, were made at the combined annual vestry and parochial meetings held in connection with St John’s Church, Lewes, on Tuesday evening.
Several of those present expressed the opinion that in these times such an assessment was ridiculous, and the general opinion was that it should be reduced.
