Warning of higher expenditure, 1960

Stuart Billington

Although he was presenting a statement of accounts with a balance of £148 7s 7d, Mr A W Moorey (hon. treasurer) warned the Annual Parochial Church Meeting of St John’s Lewes, that there would soon be a big drain on this reserve when the new curate, the Rev. Howard Bell, moved into 1 St John’s Hill, in June.

There would be rates to pay, telephone charges and all the usual expenses of running a house to be met.

“So far we have got through very well, and I don’t think we shall have any difficulty if we bear in mind these expenses when planning our finances,” he said.
