The Rectories, Jan 1969

Stuart Billington

Regarding the sale of the old Rectory (1, St John’s Hill) the Rector reported that the £6,500 cash offer (£103,000 today) had fallen through at a late stage. He had spoken to two Estate Agents that day and they were not despondent.
Regarding the financing of the new Rectory at 1 The Avenue, a cheque for £2,000 had been asked for by the Church Commissioners.
Mrs Blaker had given £500 towards the cost (£8,000 today).
Southover Church loan of £1,000 (£16,000) was to be paid into Barclay’s Bank at the end of the week.
There was also a loan of £1,000 from a private individual and the Rector suggested that £500 of this should be repaid immediately.
Mrs Mascall offered the thanks of the PCC to Mrs Harold Blaker for her very generous gift.
