General Purposes, April 1972

Stuart Billington

Events during the year have included the Summer Fete which brought in a profit of £168.47 (about £2,500 today), and a percentage of this was donated to 5 outside charities. There was also a Harvest Supper in October and a Pancake Party in February. The Hailsham Choral Society performed Handel’s Messiah in March, and a very enjoyable evening was had by all.
Over £40 was raised from the Jumble Sale in March (about £600 today) – the most ever from one of these. The thanks of the committee are extended to all the willing workers who helped to make these events a success.
The committee was very pleased to hand £250 (about £3,700 today) to the PCC from the General Purposes account towards the cost of the Church amplification system.
We hope to arrange an Organ Recital in the near future.
Preparations are already in hand for Patronal Week and the St Nicholas Fair. We want this to be the best St Nicholas Fair we have ever had, so if you have any ideas or if you wish to help please contact the committee.
