The Rector said the offertories during the year amounted to £444 13s 3d and their donations to outside objects came to £74 17s 10d. He did not think, therefore, there could be any reproach against them that while they recognised the paramount claim of their own people to assistance from the church they neglected outside claims.

Interestingly, the year’s offertory is worth approximately £46,000 in today’s money. The proportion given to outside objects (we would call that charitable giving) is about 17% of the year’s offertory, which was very generous.
