Sir Cuthbert Sprawson asked how the parochial quota from St John’s compared with the amount required from other parishes?
The Rector said St John’s and St Anne’s parishes were regarded as wealthy parishes and their quotas were much higher then those of other parishes in the town – £86 as compared with £20 or £30 and, he believed, £50 in the case of one parish.
In recent years some generous subscribers had passed away and it was very difficult to replace them.
