The Repairs of the Church: Sept 1902

We are sure that all will be glad to know that the repairs of the Roof are actually begun, and are going on rapidly.
The next question for the Committee and Subscribers to consider will be what portion should be taken in hand when these are completed.
It would seem desirable that the outside of the Edifice should be made proof against the weather on all sides, before any internal alterations or decorations are taken in hand; and, if this be so, the windows must next be repaired, some of which are in a very disastrous condition.
A Meeting will shortly be called to decide this, and after the Meeting a full list of promised donations will be published. Meanwhile, we would tell those who have already named the amount of their contributions that an account has been opened at the Lewes Old Bank in readiness to receive them, either whole or in part; and we should be grateful to others if they would promise help, which may be extended over two years.
The total amount required will be large – probably nearly £1000, and cannot be covered without some effort and self-sacrifice. The amount at present promised does not reach half the cost named.
