The need for repairs to the roof of St John’s Church, Lewes, was discussed at the annual parochial church meeting at the Church Hall on Wednesday.
The question was raised by Mr R Pannett, who said the rain came through the roof and something ought to be done to remedy the fault.
Mr F W Jones (Churchwarden) agreed with Mr Pannett.
“We have worked hard to raise money for restoration purposes and I think we ought to use some of it” he said. He reported that the restoration fund totalled £431 (about £9,500 today).
Mr A W Moorey (churchwarden), who presided, said the whole roof would probably have to be retiled. Some years ago the work had been estimated at £400.
