The Church front garden, 1968

Stuart Billington

Mr Moorey thanked Mr Jones for painting the flag-pole and gates and said the supply of paint had not been charged to the Church funds.

(Extract from PCC Meeting, 24th of September 1968)

The maintenance of the lovely wrought iron gates has been a challenge over the years, owing to the sheer intricacy of the ironwork.
The re-painting referred to here was 50 years ago, and although they have been repainted since then, the gates are sadly approaching the end of their useful life.
This matter will no doubt come to a head when the planned re-modelling of the front garden is considered in the near future.
