Electoral Roll 1925

Stuart Billington

Cllr Young had rendered the parish great service as secretary to the Parochial Council, and it was owing to him that their Electoral Roll was kept up-to-date. There were no fewer than 524 names on it and the keeping of the Roll was a very hard task.

(Extract from Parochial Church Meeting, 21st of April 1925)

Compared with the recent past that was indeed large number on the Electoral Roll. In 1968 the figure was 155, in 1969  it was 164, in 1970 it was 248, in 1972 it was 340, in 1992 it was 190, in 2000 it was 139, in 2010 it was 74, and 2014 it was 59. A sad reflection on the decline of the church in the 20th century and into the 21st . . .
