Church Hall, April 1970

Stuart Billington

Thanks are due to the people who still run the Whist and Beetle drives for the Hall funds which this year gave a profit of £65 (about £1,000 today).
Since the last Annual General Meeting, the Hall has had a completely new roof at a cost of £667 9s 10d (about £10,500 today).
Volunteers have completely redecorated the outside of the hall for the cost only of the paint, putty etc.
From the balance in hand of the Provident Club, the Hall funds were granted the sum of £42, which the Hall Committee decided should go towards the purchase of new crockery (this being badly needed); we now have 10 dozen teacups, saucers, plates, soup or fruit bowls and dinner plates, a grand acquisition to the Hall stock. We must now try to purchase cutlery to go with the crockery.
The kitchen requires modernising but like Mr Micawber, we must wait and see what turns up.
