Phase 1 of the Repair Project was carried out between January and July 2015.
The architect for the project was Andy Burrell of Carden & Godfrey.
The main contractor was Richard Soan Roofing Services of Lewes.
The total cost was £244,000, and this was financed as follows:
English Heritage/Heritage Lottery Fund grant | £118,000 |
Chichester Diocese grant | £ 72,000 |
Listed Places of Worship Scheme (VAT refund) | £ 36,000 |
Garfield Weston Foundation grant | £ 10,000 |
St John sub Castro fundraising | £ 8,000 |
Phase 1 was made up of the following elements:
New slate roof to the Nave
New flat roof to the Tower
New tiled roof to the Sanctuary
New tiled roof to the Clergy vestry
Repairs to the Chancel roof
Repairs to the Organ vestry roof
Repairs to buttress cappings and wall copings
Repairs to brickwork and flintwork
Weathervane restoration
