About 40 of the most regular children had a treat given them on September 23rd through the kindness of Mr. and Mrs. Pelling. It is much to be regretted that more than double that number had not reached the requisite standard of attendance, but irregularity is the great trouble in our School now. We certainly cannot be expected to teach children successfully if they do not attend regularly; the responsibility rests with the parents, who are allowing the little ones best opportunities to slip by. Some people say that the present state of things is due to the fact that Education is now free. We trust that this is not the case
