Now 2017 has started to warm up we are seeing a lot of wildlife coming out of hibernation. Butterflies such as the Red Admiral, Peacock and Brimstone have spent the winter hidden under leaves and are now flying around the churchyard. Gill reports seeing Holly Blues around the churchyard too. Gill also reports “The bats are back! They were flitting up and down the path early dusk on the very hot day we had last week.”
We usually record Common Pipistrelle and Soprano Pipistrelle in the churchyard and we have also seen the much bigger Noctules here too. We will be holding a bat evening in the churchyard in the summer. More details to follow.
