Henry Holiday (1839-1927)

Known as ‘The last of the Pre-Raphaelites’, Henry Holiday is best known for his painting ‘Dante and Beatrice’ (1883)  which can be seen in the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool. It shows his skill at painting drapery and use of colour. He succeeded Edward Burne-Jones as chief designer at Powell & Sons in 1863.
