Choir and Organ 1939

Stuart Billington

In reply to questions, Mr Leslie S. Plummer expressed the opinion that the cleaning of the organ might stand over for a year. Mr Plummer said the need for new psalters was much more pressing. They were really urgently needed and the cost would be about £8 or £9.
They needed about £20 (about £1,200 today) to replenish the supply of music, some of which had been in use for many years and had become dilapidated.
It had happened that in a solo when the soloist came to turn over the page of music, the next page was not there, and that might lead to disaster.
He would like to see a sinking fund established so that the music could be replenished from time to time as found necessary.
It was agreed to adopt the suggestions of Mr Plummer with regard to the organ and to make an effort to provide the necessary funds for new music.
