St John's Altar Flowers, April 1970

Stuart Billington

There was a wonderful response last year to the appeal for contributions towards lilies and other flowers at Easter as tokens of remembrance. We look forward confidently to the same support from the parish this Easter, and shall be the more thankful for contributions because at the time of writing this note the Flower Fund is reduced to its last few shillings!
“Scraping the Barrel” is a new experience for this Fund, but florist’s prices continue to rise, and there are occasions in the year besides Easter – e.g. St John’s Day – when money is needed for extra flowers.
At the same time we should like to express grateful appreciation to all our faithful decorators who give time and money to beautify St John’s altars all the year round.
