Church Readers, May 1972

A recommendation by the Rector was put before the PCC, namely to find out if a Church Reader could celebrate communion.
Replacements were always needed if a clergyman became ill, and there seemed to be no reason why Church Readers should not be ordained priests. He therefore proposed that a resolution be put before the Synod, that in certain circumstances Church Readers could be ordained priests.
