Choir surplices, 1960

Interest was expressed at the cost of £7 10s (about £160 today) for washing surplices.
The Rector replied:
“ If they took their surplices home for washing they would return wearing different shades of whiteness like the detergent commercials! As things are now they are at least the same colour.”
