Sunday School, 1950

Stuart Billington

The importance of encouraging Sunday School workers was emphasised by the Rev. H E Langhorne (rector of St John’s Church, Lewes) at the annual church meeting on Tuesday.
“Our Sunday School teachers”, he said, “are doing most important work.
As you all know, congregations are very much diminished – unless there is some special attraction – and we must concentrate on the young people, the youth of the parish, if we want to do anything to help church work and life in the future.”
The Rector said the Sunday school at St John’s was one of the best, if not the best, in the town.
They had well over 100 children, and he wished to thank most heartily Miss Perfect (the Sunday School organiser) and the teachers on their splendid efforts.
