Choir, April 1969

Stuart Billington

Since the last annual report, the choir has attended a Choir Festival at Brighton and a one-day Choir School at St Andrews, Moulescombe, and has joined with St. Michael’s Church choir at their Patronal Festival service. The main work sung at this service was Mozart’s “Kyrie” in D minor.
During the year in our own Church, the choir has sung music by Purcell, Orlando Gibbons, Benjamin Britten, and other composers from the 16th to the 20th centuries.
The younger members of the choir welcomed another visit to the ten-pin bowling alley and we are very grateful to those parents who provide transport on these occasions.
As last year, the choir organised the Parish Pancake Party, which everybody seems to have enjoyed.
Many thanks are due to the band of people who have worked faithfully in the choir throughout the year.
However we must again point out a need for new recruits to the choir – boys, girls and men. In the past year there have only been four new members. Could we possibly double this number during the coming year.
