Wartime
Inevitably, both World Wars - and other conflicts too - had an impact on church life at St John's.
Edwin Ade, 1877-1917
Edwin Ade was a well known Lewes figure who lived in St John's Terrace. During WW1, he served in the 13th Royal Sussex Regiment, and was wounded at Ypres. He died on 21st March 1917 age 39.
